KBZ facilitated distance learning sessions at local elementary School, May 1, 2009
When Brian Ricca, KBZ’s Mid-Atlantic Sales Engineer, learned that his son’s third grade class had a chance to learn about the solar system directly from NASA experts, he put his skills to use. Thanks to KBZ and Ricca, ninety-five third graders at Seylar Elementary School in Perkasie, PA, met by video conference with an instructor, Mr. Storm, from NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio for a live distance learning lesson.
“KBZ has coordinated a number of distance learning sessions and found that video conferencing is a great tool for long distance education; it really brings the subject to life for the students,” said Ricca. “We were delighted to provide the equipment and expertise needed to help the Seylar school students meet with the NASA experts.”
Ricca provided technical support for the TANDBERG 6000 MXP Codec Integrator used at the elementary school and David Mazza, of NASA Glen Digital Learning Network, coordinated use of the TANDBERG Educator employed at the Glenn Research Center facility. The hour-long session, held on May 1, is part of NASA’s free, interactive program that allows students to learn more about the earth and the universe through video conferencing and webcasts.
