I’m writing these words from beautiful Fort Lauderdale, Florida, fresh off the heels of the ScanSource+KBZ/Cisco IoT Summit, a 3-day conference geared toward helping our valued partners put together complete, real-world solutions to tap into this multi-trillon dollar IoT opportunity. If you’re scratching your heads each time the phrase ‘Internet of Things’ is muttered or when you read an article referencing the ‘IoT’, don’t worry, you’re not alone.  In this buzzword heavy culture it can...

Communication is at the core of humanity.  Without the ability to communicate, civilization as we know it would not exist. Heavy thoughts to ponder while enjoying your morning cup of coffee, right? Intense as this notion may be, it is certainly hard to deny the importance and power of communication and stunningly incomprehensible to imagine a reality without the ability to communicate.  Of course what I mean when referring to communication is a very broad category.  Humans use a seemingly...

Unless you’ve had your head buried firmly in the sand, by now you have seen the letters BYOD floating around our corner of the Internet. No, it’s not the newest abbreviation showing up on teenagers’ phones and Instagram accounts, LOL, OMG, or NSFW (although those letters should raise a red flag in the context of this conversation). The abbreviation refers to Bring Your Own Device and is a concept you and your business need to wholeheartedly embrace.

Bring Your Own Device;...

Each January folks sit down to craft lengthy lists of resolutions, everything from the obvious, work out more, eat better and save money, to the esoteric, spend more time in wild places, be an adventurous eater or learn to crochet (definitely not on my list). Historically I’ve not been much of a list maker and certainly not one to create New Years resolutions, but this year I thought I’d give it a shot and seeing as though we’ve been transitioning our thinking from a balanced work-life...

Reflecting on the year behind us, I can’t help but wait, somewhat impatiently for the arrival of 2016. As you know this has been an exciting and transitional year for KBZ. Our acquisition and unification with respected distributor ScanSource was merely the tip of the iceberg. We enjoyed outstanding success in each area of this business and learned something about ourselves every giant step of the way. Acquisitions have an understandable tendency to make folks uncomfortable and we were...

Sitting at my desk, thinking about how to start this post, I’m left reflecting on the year past and can’t help but sit in awe at what a remarkable journey it has been.  We became one with ScanSource this year, saw incredible advances in business video and experienced one of the most successful years in our lengthy history.  I could rattle off numbers, statistics, and metrics to back up my statements but I’d rather focus on what’s really important as we enter into the Holidays and...

Last week, myself along with a slew of folks from varying tech related industries were fortunate enough to attend Cisco’s Collaboration Summit. To say we had a blast would be an understatement. For those few days it felt as though all that was important, powerful and critical to the collaboration industry was unveiled before our eager eyes.  As this year’s title would suggest, the over-arching theme was products, tools and apps that are geared toward “changing the way we work”.  In...

What does it mean to be real, to keep it real, to live in the realm of reality?  According to Urban Dictionary (obviously a legitimate source), to keep it real means to “Not be fake. Be yourself”.  As silly as the phrase might be, wouldn’t we all like to dwell in a space which allows us to not be fake, to be our authentic selves? You may wonder what this line of questioning has to do with business video or collaboration software, stay with me, I’ll explain.

In this day and age...
